On January 4, 2023 at shortly after 2:15 a.m. Terriek James was dropped off at University Medical Center in a private vehicle. The driver left the hospital. Terriek died at the hospital from gunshot wounds. Details surrounding the shooting are unclear as to the location of the shooting, motive and identity of the shooter.
