On February 5, 2018 at about 11:05 a.m., NOPD officers responded to a call reporting an unclassified death in the 1400 block of Governor Nicholls Street. Russell Teal Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation revealed the Teal had been walking with another male in the 1400 block of Governor Nicholls St. just after 3 a.m. when he was struck in the head, knocking him to the ground and unconscious.
After reveiwing the evidence the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has ruled Teal's death as a homicide from blunt force trauma.
